Stanford Jazz Workshop's Miles Ahead Big Band has been selected as one of the top 30 high school jazz bands to compete in Jazz at Lincoln Center's prestigious Essentially Ellington Competition, a first for a San Francisco Bay Area high school band in 20 years! Join us for an unforgettable afternoon of Duke Ellington’s music performed by Nathan’s Fearless Five! Founded in October 2021 to raise funds for the New Orleans Musician's Clinic, the Fearless Five has been actively performing ever since, bringing joy to audiences while supporting important causes. From their performances at Old Skool Cafe, a nonprofit supporting formerly-incarcerated youth, to their Musicians in Residence role at the Palo Alto Rinconada Library, and numerous appearances at various nonprofit galas, senior living facilities, and city events, the band has made quite an impact across the community. This spring, the band will perform alongside professional musicians at the Jazzaffair festival in Three Rivers (April 11-13). Don't miss this special concert supporting their journey to New York City!
